John Marini, RIP

After a little digging I found out that the runner who died Saturday during the Collegiate Peaks Trail Run was 59-year-old John Marini of Littleton, Colorado. After a little more digging I discovered that he'd been running races since at least 2001, including the Pikes Peak Marathon.

I'm not sure how much that I can say is appropriate in a situation like this: I think I wouldn't mind dying suddenly of a heart attack during a trail run, but I'd hate to leave that mess for someone else to clean up. Never mind the burden placed on emergency services personnel, race officials, and volunteers. And of course it would be inappropriate for me to speak for the late Mr Marini and his desires, etc.
